I know, I know! It's been over a year since I've posted anything! But in my defense, I moved to a new school last year so I've been very busy working and adjusting to the change. Plus, I'm still painting and playing with my precious kiddos! My New Year's Resolution (I've never made one before) is to get organized, however. So I am going to try to do a better job with posting some of my projects from last year.

I went a little paint happy

My new school asked me and the two art teachers to paint some furniture for the school to help it feel a little more homey. As one of the teachers keeps saying...I love this place!

The table and chair sets above are in the First Grade pod. All of the furniture's colors coordinate with the tile floors.

Each teacher received one of these tables to place outside of their classroom. We were each responsible for painting it with our own design using the school's colors.

This is one of the many "Author's chairs" to be found throughout the school.

I love how this is such a small world! A girl that I went to high school with asked me to create this sign to hang on the hospital door after her new nephew arrived. Now that's summer here, I've really been inspired by the brighter colors...especially this bright pink.

Miss Megan has a December bday, so her parents typically have a "half-year" bday party instead. Should I have provided a half of a candle? Ha!

I can't believe that my sweet niece is already a year old! I guess I should start working on Benjamin's! This isn't the best pic, but the cake colors are lime green, yellow, and purple.

Sorry for the Reneck reference in the title, but it's what came to mind. :) All of these signs were painted on 8x8 canvases and hung with coordinating ribbons for $15.

Anyway, I made the first three signs for end-of-the-year teacher gifts. One of the teachers loved polka dots, so that was easy for me!

This was a going-away gift for a friend of mine.

I needed something simple and sweet to add to a bookshelf in a room I recently decorated, so I thought these sweet footprints would be perfect!

I had the honor of putting together this nursery for a sweet client that I've worked with for over 6 years. Miss Sidney is one lucky girl to have such a loving and Christian family to grow up in. A, thank you so much for letting me work on this for your family!

My client chose a Bible verse for both of their kids. For Sidney, they chose Proverbs 3:5 ("Trust in the Lord with all your hear {Sidney} and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."). They let me create this canvas for her room. The picture doesn't really show it, but those streaks are actually silver streaks light brushed on top.

I love how this stool turned out, but the pictures don't do these colors justice! The harlequin pattern on top is the same green as the green stripe on the sides. A friend asked me to paint this for her two-year-old's birthday. I tried very hard not to put any polka dots on this one, but somehow red dots appeared on it anyway. ;) AC, I hope that this stool will provide much happiness to M's teeth brushing!

A Helpful Step Stool

I painted the stool to match the colors of this painting and a shower curtain that's in the bathroom.

I'm so flattered when I have "repeat" customers. I painted a rocking chair for a friend last year and now she asked me to paint a stool for her kids to use in their bathroom. When I delivered it yesterday, the little girl took it straight to her bathroom and brushed her teeth. Now I'm totally convinced that I have to paint one for my kiddos!

I've overheard a mom and daughter discussing that they need one for themselves to be able to get into their beds or reach things up high due to their height. I will be glad to paint a stool for adults, too!

Artist For Ovaries is a Wine/Cheese Silent Auction benefiting the Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition. This fundraiser will allow AROVCC to produce and distribute educational material to the women of Arkansas regarding the signs & symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Several local Arkansas Artists are contributing pieces – including yours truly and my dear old friend Amy Lasseigne, whose mother is an ovarian cancer survivor. There is an estimated 45 pieces of artwork to choose from. Sale prices will range from $40-$800.

Here is my stool that will be in the auction. If you like teal, then this will be a great spot for you to find something. Every art piece had to include teal somewhere on the piece. Some may not have as much as mine, though.

- Last year 130 Arkansas women died of ovarian cancer.

- In 2009, over 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer; over 15,000 will die.

- The symptoms are silent, so please listen: pelvic pain, bloating, frequent urination & feeling full quickly.

- If you have had certain forms of hormonal breast cancer you have a higher risk of getting ovarian cancer.

The Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition (AROVCC) exists with the purpose to educate the public about the signs and symptoms affecting the women of Arkansas . My best friends' nephew turned one a few weeks ago. I painted this banner for him to grow up with for each birthday. I know that Beckett's daddy loves baseball, plus I think Beckett was named after the Beckett baseball trading cards, so I was obviously inspired by the baseball theme. I even based the lettering from a baseball jersey (I think Brooklyn???). I'm sure my brother will correct me. :)

I had a lot of fun doing this banner as it was the first themed banner I have done. As I'm typing this post, I already see some changes I want to make for the next one. I have a friend that wants a similar one to this for her little boy's birthday in November. I can't wait to see how it comes out!

Made the American Way

One of my mom's friends asked me to do a 4th of July wreath for her. She already had the ribbon, so I based everything off of that. Considering that all 4th of July decorations are extremely country, it was hard for me to get started. But after my mom and I put our minds together, I am very excited about how it turned out. I know it's not actually a wreath, but I think you can still fully get that good 'ole Americana feeling.

Lila Jane's Neapolitan

I painted this chair for my high school friend's daughter that just turned two. The colors remind me of Neapolitan ice cream, which probably explains why I've been craving ice cream every night. Hmmm...

I took these pictures in my backyard this morning. So the lighting isn't that great. But I painted the spindles on the arms and crossbar white with tiny dots of all the colors that I used. The middle rails on the back have pink and white stripes.

This magazine box, in Lila's room, is is what I matched the chair to. I hope that Lila loves this chair in her new big girl room. Happy 2nd Lila!

I decided to start painting growth charts after seeing all of the "sweet" ones that don't really fit my taste. I painted this one for my soon-to-be niece, McKenzie, to match her nursery. It might seem like a weird color combo here, but the room is absolutely precious. I'll post pix of it soon to show what we came up with.

This was my first chart to paint, obviously, and I've already learned from my mistakes. I know that this picture doesn't show it off very well, either, but I now know that I need to leave a blank field in the middle so that the child's name will show up better, or I can paint their name bigger.

I can custom paint the growth charts on canvas like traditional charts. However, I like painting on wood, so I painted this one on a piece of wood (I think it was pine). The size is 11 1/4" wide by 48" long. Once I decide on what I'm doing for ME's big girl room and "Little Dees'" nursery, I'll have more options to show.

At least that's the inspiration I had for this dining room. This sweet family had just moved back to LR after the husband finished his residency. They had very few things to work with, so I basically had a clean slate.

A Comfy Den

This is a room that had several possibilities before we ever came to the final outcome. I originally had the walls faux-finished thinking we were doing a Music Room. But my friend A decided against that. The next option was to turn this room into a playroom for her son, but we decided against that since it's the very first room that you see from the front door. So she decided she wanted a more comfy spot for her family to watch TV instead of in the big Living Room.

It's funny how sometimes I can't see the end result, but once I get it, I absolutely love it. I actually wish I had this room for myself. Everytime I enter it, I feel warm and cozy. This is definitely a room you can kick back and enjoy a good book or movie!

Growing up, my dear sweet friends' mom always hung a hand-painted birthday banner on their mantle. I loved the idea so much that I said I was going to do it for my kids, too. Now that I have a kid, one on the way, and work full time, I realized that I probably wouldn't have the time or energy to make one each year, especially since ME's birthday is so close to Christmas. Rather than rushing through and sloppily painting one every year, I decided to hand-paint one on canvas that I could reuse every year.

This is Mary Elizabeth's banner. The pink was a nice break from all of the Christmas decor in the house.

I painted this one for my friend, Molly, and her son, Carson. He is having his second birthday this weekend. Wow!

Each birthday banner is hand-painted on canvas. I personally like to do the three-tiered cake for drama, but I can paint almost any design that you would like. I cut out enough fabric candles for you to have 18 candles. I figured that your child will probably not want a birthday banner after 18. I'm a little different, though, and actually would love it at any age!

Will's Room

I love to do children's rooms because the possibilities are endless! Plus, you get to add the kid's personal touch, if they'll let you. This is one of the first children's rooms I did on my own (of course, with my wonderful assistant).

I am really excited with how the walls turned out. The main part around the room is a straw yellow with a 12" red border to coordinate with the bedding.

Painting Tip: A great way to save on painting costs is to do the painting yourself. I think the dad did a great job in this room! Painting straight lines is not as hard as it may seem. Just make sure you have a straight edge, level, ruler, and painter's tape.

I usually try to stay away from themed rooms so the kids can grow with the room, but I couldn't pass up this cute cowboy print to go with the stars on the opposite wall.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Luckily, I have a wonderful helper (a.k.a. my mom) that assists me with my installations. She and I did this doorway for her friend in early November...Christmas can never come too early! You must have time to enjoy all of the hard work that you put into decorating your home for Christmas, even if it does stay up until February (which I've noticed some Christmas wreaths still hanging up around town), yea!

I took this picture in the day, so the clarity isn't that great. But the greenery and birch tree branches had lights in them to give off a warm glow. Christmas decorating is something that I look forward to doing with my mom every year. We've created some beautiful mantels in the past...I just wish I thought to take pictures until now. Ugh! Please keep me in mind when it comes Christmastime again! We can work with what you have, like we did on this doorway, or create something unique just for you.

Tutu cute

I'm not really sure how to show off the tutus the best way. But you have to know that they are way cuter in person and that they make wonderful, vibrant pictures for your little princesses! I can supply all of the material, or I can create one with colors of tulle, ribbon, flowers, etc. of your own. However, I prefer working with the 6" spools of tulle as opposed to the bolts of tulle, but am willing to use whatever you'd like me to!

This was Mary Elizabeth's 1-year birthday tutu. She looked so sassy in it with her hot pink cupcake tights and fake Uggs!

This was made for a friend's newborn baby. I've never made one so small, but it was so cute to see the finished tiny product! I can't wait to see what it looks like on her!

I call this one "Wild Child", mainly because of the crazy picture. If you've seen one tutu, though, you pretty much know what it looks like. It's really fun, and I can see it being paired with zebra tights, or some funky shirt. This one was made to fit about a 1-year-old and still needs a home. :)
